Fawohodie Foundation
About Us
Fawohodie Foundation operates Shule Ya Wajenzi (The Builders School), a cohort-based workforce development model preparing West Side residents for entry into the construction and built environment sectors.
Our approach is designed to produce individuals who understand jobsite expectations, can operate within structured environments, and are prepared to contribute to active projects. Participants move through a disciplined progression that blends applied learning, personal accountability, and exposure to real project conditions.
Shule functions as both a training ground and a sourcing partner—connecting developers, contractors, and industry stakeholders with locally rooted, work-ready talent. Our model is intentionally aligned with the pace, standards, and culture of professional construction environments.
Beyond workforce preparation, our work is embedded in broader neighborhood development efforts across Chicago’s West Side. This proximity allows us to align training with real opportunities, ensuring that community residents are positioned to participate in and benefit from ongoing investment in the built environment.
We welcome engagement with contractors, subcontractors, and industry partners seeking to strengthen their workforce pipeline while contributing to a more locally grounded and sustainable construction ecosystem.
